Reynolds & Read Ltd. was established on the Isle of Wight in 1981 by friends Geoff Reynolds and Paul Read in a small yard in Gunville. The company started with just one lorry and one digger. In 1987 we moved to Burnt House Lane before relocating to Blackwater Garage in 2000, our home for 16 years. We moved to their current premises, Brickfields, in January 2017.
From humble beginnings, Reynolds & Read Ltd. has since grown to a fleet of 24 lorries and over 50 items of plant. Now a family run business, Paul’s son Kieron joined the firm in 2005. We employ over 40 qualified and very experienced members of staff and have expanded to mainland coverage with tippers all around the south coast.
Our services range from plant hire and transport to skip and container hire enabling us to cater to a number of customer needs. For all enquires please contact us on 01983 523565.
Brickfields, the new 18-acre site, was converted from the former equestrian centre to a large workshop and yard area with aggregate holding bays perfect for Reynolds & Read Ltd’s future needs.
Reynolds & Read Ltd. currently runs out of four island sites and our mainland premises in Southampton. Our island sites including our main offices, our inert tip and our two transfer stations.
Our main base is our Brickfields site located in Ryde, Isle of Wight. Purchased in 2013, we moved in early 2017. The site features new, modern offices and a five bay yard/workshop area with the latest facilities.
The site is heated by our revolutionary bio mass boiler, the first of its kind in the UK, fuelled by clean timber sorted from our recycling centre skips.
Reynolds & Read Ltd. has operated at Duxmore quarry for over 30 years. The site features a weighbridge and has permits for the recycling and crushing of materials for future needs including:
- different grades of top soils
- type one lime stone
- road planings
- different sizes of crushed concrete / rubble
- as dug and crushed chalk including lime for agricultural use
Through our Duxmore site, Reynolds & Read Ltd. offer a service for trade and domestic use where plaster board can be taken at a tonnage rate for recycling and a free tip for clean concrete and rubble.
Our recycling centre in Rookley, which opened in 2010, is a fully licensed waste transfer site. The site enables us to sort skips and recycle waste in the most efficient way.
We try to recycle as much waste as possible including rubble and soil which is taken to our Duxmore quarry site for crushing and screening. Plaster board and scrap metals are taken off the Isle of Wight for further processing. Clean timber is taken to our Brickfields site for the biomass burner, leaving very little waste for landfill.
As a company we try to be as green as possible and waste is kept to a bare minimum.
